Gift Cards
Giving out gift cards is a great way to say “Thanks for the business” for relatively little expense. They don’t have to be more than $5 or $10 dollars, depending on the place where they might be spent.
Try to make the gift card relate to something that the person especially enjoys or cares about.. Get a referral from a good friend that loves coffee? Starbucks. Close a multiple sale from a new policy owner that loves sports? Big 5 or Sports Authority or other local sporting goods store. Have lunch with a prospect that you really want to do business with? Send a follow up card in appreciation for taking time to meet with you and include a gift card to a quality car wash because you noticed that he drove a nice luxury car to your meeting.
Research indicates that only 2-5% of all those that receive gift cards actaully redeem them, but those that do typically buy more than is on the card. Those that receive a thoughtful gift card are certainly more likely to redeem it and remember who was paying attention to what was important to them or what they did for you.
